Work in Parliament ITRE Committee Meeting - Consideration of the Report

The report on the simplification of the Implementation of the Framework Programmes for Research, prepared by Maria da Graca Carvalho, was discussed today at a meeting of the European Parliament ITRE

Until July 14, the members of the ITRE Committee may submit amendments to the document that will be voted on at the next meeting of the ITRE Committee on September 2, 2010. The final vote in the ITRE Committee's report is scheduled for September 30. The final vote will take place at the plenary session of Parliament next month of October.

During a speech at today's meeting, the MEP said that in preparing this report, has opened a consultation process with stakeholders "with the aim of involving all European stakeholders in this debate, listening to their opinions and asking for the contributions and suggestions I intend to include in the report. " She also said that the report aims to "assess the Seventh Framework Program and prepare the future Eighth Framework Programme for Research."

Among the priority aspects of the report, Maria da Graca Carvalho stressed "the importance of simplifying administrative and financial matters, the need to improve quality, accessibility and transparency and, finally, the benefits of synergies between programs."

During the subsequent debate, the shadow rapporteurs, Teresa Madurell (S & D), Jorgo Chatzimarkakis (ALDE), Marisa Matias, (GUE / NGL), Philippe Lamberts (Verts / ALE), Vicky Ford (RCT) indicated their agreement along with the other participants.
